Congratulations Aoife O’Rourke


Congratulations to Aoife O’Rourke, who qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. Winning her quarter-final bout at the Olympic qualifier in Paris last weekend secured l her place on the Irish team heading to Japan.

Aoife Is the daughter of Creggs Rugby legend Kevin O’Rourke and his wife Ann, from Tarmon, Castlerea.

Still only 23 years-old (24 when the Olympics come around), Aoife will fulfil her ambition of fighting for Ireland in the Olympic Games.

Aoife came to international attention when she won the gold medal in the middleweight division at the 2019 Women’s European Amateur Boxing Championships. Aoife is a member of Castlerea Boxing Club.

Creggs girls u14/u16 and U18 training continued in Creggs tonight with 33 girls taking part.
