Creggs 5 Tuam 0
Creggs reached the Bowl final Versus Westport with a narrow victory over a very committed Tuam side last Sunday in the Green, Creggs by virtue of a single try. Creggs played with the aid of a very strong wind in the first half and some good kicking by scrum half Rory Collins and out half Shane Dowd allowed them to establish good field positions deep in the Tuam half. From there they launched a number of attacks with Dan Butt and Rory O’Donoghue particularly prominent. They produced a series of quick rucks with Michael Kelly and Edward Clinton driving at the Tuam defence. However the final pass was dropped on a few occasions and Tuam cleared their lines. Winger Christy Leahy got over the line but was held up by great Tuam defence after great work by full back Michael Farrell who played well throughout. Winger Luke Kelly interpassed with Shane Dowd but the Tuam defence could not be breached. We had to wait until the second half for the break through to come and it was hard working second row Michael Feeley who broke through the cover and set up a quick ruck with the assistance of Sean Doorly, Matthew Butt and Conor McNeill. Rory Collins then cleverly switched play to the blind side where Shane Dowd accelerated through a gap in the Tuam back line to score the match winning try. Tuam responded with some pressure for the last few minutes but the Creggs line held firm with centres Conor Gore, Kevin Gavin and Luke Kelly tackling ferociously. Creggs now play Westport in the final in the coming weeks. Training next Friday at 7.30pm.
