Tuam 2nds 15 Creggs 2nds 8
Tuam advanced to the quarterfinal of the Ard na Cregg Cup with a hard- fought victory over Creggs on Sunday. Tuam dominated the early exchanges but dogged defence held them out until winger Keith Fleming crossed for a try in the 25th minute . Tuam went further ahead shortly after halftime with a well struck penalty kick by Peter Totten. Creggs began to dominate territorially but were caught by a sucker -punch when Tuam forward Emmet Rock broke from deep to cross for a fine individual try under the posts . The easy conversion left Creggs trailing by 15-0,but they quickly regrouped and put Tuam on the back-foot. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Ronan Cahill burst through for a try to give Creggs renewed hope .The impressive Cahill then proceeded to land a massive penalty kick from way out on the wing to reduce the deficit to 15 – 8 . With time running out Creggs ran the ball at every opportunity and were very unlucky when winger Dara Thomas got in for a try in the right corner only to have the score harshly ruled out for a forward pass. Creggs battled right to the end under Enda Tully’s captaincy. The front row of Tully,Eoghan Cahill and Ken Loughrey enjoyed a tough battle with their opponents, while Damien Nolan and Declan Nee worked hard in the second row . The backrow unit of Graham Curran ,Mark Hester and Ronan Cahill were strong at the breakdown and tackled hard around the fringes .Scrumhalf Stephen Crehan combined well with Dylan Keaveney ,who tested the Tuam defence with some probing kicks . David Feeney and Tommy Devine were strong and committed in the centre while Philip Leech and Damien Miskell impressed on the wings with Thomas Greene very solid at fullback, while replacement winger Dara Thomas almost saved the day for Creggs .

Support Creggs Rugby's 'For the Love
of the Club' fundraising Walk/Run
Connacht Rugby and Bank of Ireland are supporting Creggs Rugby Club with their 'For The Love of the Club' fundraising initiative this coming St Patrick’s Day, March 17th, which will last for one week until March 24th. Will you please join us?
For the Love of the Club is a virtual 5K or 10K fundraising walk or run where you can register to: www.myrunresults.com
The entry fee is €10 and it will go to Creggs RFC, once you’ve chosen Creggs Rugby Club when entering.
We welcome all to participate, from keen runners to casual walkers. It’s all about getting reconnected and active again and whether you’re at home in Roscommon, Castlerea, Strokestown, Lanesborough, Lecarrow, Ballygar, Newbridge, Glenamaddy, Williamstown or in your home from home in Melbourne, Boston, Toronto or anywhere in the World, you can be part of your club, Creggs RFC in these challenging times. You may have a niece or nephew, a grandchild, a neighbour, a work colleague, or a casual acquaintance involved with the Club. Why not join this great fundraising initiative, and walk or run 5/10 km to support them.
This fundraiser will provide a much needed financial boost to Creggs Rugby Club in the current climate of restrictions. It will help greatly to maintain the facilities - both those in use such as the Community Walkway and the training and playing pitches etc. for when rugby returns for all our boys and girls.
The pandemic period has made it increasingly difficult for the Club to access most funding streams and through this initiative you can contribute to the Club, while getting some healthy exercise in the process.
In addition to your support, Bank of Ireland, Connacht Rugby’s community partner, will provide €5,000 worth of Rhino Rugby equipment to the club that goes the extra mile. Will you please help us to go that extra mile?
Please sign up for the Love of The Club virtual run/walk by clicking on the following link: www.myrunresults.com/events/for_the_love_of_the_club/4052/details
Connacht Rugby and Creggs Rugby Club asks all participants to adhere to complete their walk or run within the current government guidelines and their mandated 5K zone in Ireland (or whatever restrictions apply where you now reside), and not to gather in large groups in public areas and instead partake individually.
A 70 cent administration charge applies to all entrants’ €10 entry fees.
ENJOY YOUR EXERCISE AND THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING CREGGS RUGBY CLUB. ... See MoreSee Less
