Great progress is being made in our Schools Development Programme.

Coaching continues to develop in secondary schools in our region. Roscommon CBS, Roscommon Community School, St. Mary’s College, Ballygar, Glenamaddy Community School and Castlerea Community School all now have active rugby coaching development programmes, which is going well.

Interest and numbers continue to grow, with many students discovering a love for the game for the first time. Congratulations to them, the coaches and teachers for all their work and commitment.

The First Year team from St. Mary’s College, Ballygar aquitted themselves really well at a Blitz recently in Athlone. It is expected all five schools will have teams in the next First Year Blitz, that takes place in Mid-Novemver. More details on that in the coming weeks.

Hi Folks,
Creggs Rugby Club are looking to take part in this year’s Big Rugby Run on May 22nd. The event format will see each registered team committing to running the 42-kilometer distance of a full marathon in your club colours – all while carrying a rugby ball! This distance will be completed as a relay, by teams of up to 21 members aged 10 and upwards. This means a Minimum of 2km per runner/walker. This year funds raised are going toward initiatives run by Tackle Your Feelings, a mental health and well-being programme ran by the Rugby Player Ireland foundation.
If interested, please let us know and once we have numbers competing, we will create a text group where all information will be put up for the next steps to follow. For any questions before signing up contact Kenneth Loughrey on 0857664010 or go to www.psaacademies.com/thebigrugbyrun for information.
