Connacht UNDER-13 A League
Westport RFC 19, Creggs Rugby 14.
Creggs Under-13’s travelled to Westport last Saturday morning for their first Connacht League game. The Under-13 league in non-competitive and is designed to get the lads used to playing the full pitch as they graduate from Mini Rugby. Also, very important, everyone gets a game.
Our Under-13’s show great spirit, for this their first outing. Creggs scored an early try from Jack Donnelly and for long periods it looked like Creggs were set up for a momentus away win against a strong Westport team.
With new players adjusting to a new sport and players adapting to new positions, Aindriu Oates, Sean Allen. John McGuinness looked very assured and linked the play superbly
Shane Maloney showed very well and made some very important tackles. Creggs did get another try from Tiernan Lawlor but it was not enough to save the day with Creggs narrowly losing 19 -14. Well done for a great performance to all the Creggs lads.
Training continues on Tuesday’s at 7pm at the Roscommon Community Sports Park, Lisnamult, in Roscommon Town. New players always made very welcome – come along, have some great fun and join this improving team.

Support Creggs Rugby's 'For the Love
of the Club' fundraising Walk/Run
Connacht Rugby and Bank of Ireland are supporting Creggs Rugby Club with their 'For The Love of the Club' fundraising initiative this coming St Patrick’s Day, March 17th, which will last for one week until March 24th. Will you please join us?
For the Love of the Club is a virtual 5K or 10K fundraising walk or run where you can register to: www.myrunresults.com
The entry fee is €10 and it will go to Creggs RFC, once you’ve chosen Creggs Rugby Club when entering.
We welcome all to participate, from keen runners to casual walkers. It’s all about getting reconnected and active again and whether you’re at home in Roscommon, Castlerea, Strokestown, Lanesborough, Lecarrow, Ballygar, Newbridge, Glenamaddy, Williamstown or in your home from home in Melbourne, Boston, Toronto or anywhere in the World, you can be part of your club, Creggs RFC in these challenging times. You may have a niece or nephew, a grandchild, a neighbour, a work colleague, or a casual acquaintance involved with the Club. Why not join this great fundraising initiative, and walk or run 5/10 km to support them.
This fundraiser will provide a much needed financial boost to Creggs Rugby Club in the current climate of restrictions. It will help greatly to maintain the facilities - both those in use such as the Community Walkway and the training and playing pitches etc. for when rugby returns for all our boys and girls.
The pandemic period has made it increasingly difficult for the Club to access most funding streams and through this initiative you can contribute to the Club, while getting some healthy exercise in the process.
In addition to your support, Bank of Ireland, Connacht Rugby’s community partner, will provide €5,000 worth of Rhino Rugby equipment to the club that goes the extra mile. Will you please help us to go that extra mile?
Please sign up for the Love of The Club virtual run/walk by clicking on the following link: www.myrunresults.com/events/for_the_love_of_the_club/4052/details
Connacht Rugby and Creggs Rugby Club asks all participants to adhere to complete their walk or run within the current government guidelines and their mandated 5K zone in Ireland (or whatever restrictions apply where you now reside), and not to gather in large groups in public areas and instead partake individually.
A 70 cent administration charge applies to all entrants’ €10 entry fees.
ENJOY YOUR EXERCISE AND THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING CREGGS RUGBY CLUB. ... See MoreSee Less
