Creggs first team played at home to Castlebar Rugby Club in this Cawley Cup game. The winners were awaiting a home draw in the semi final versus Westport RFC. Creggs were quick off the mark after 4 minutes with Shane Purcell making a break scoring a try and converting also to lead 7 -0. Trys for Creggs followed with Shane Dowd on 10 minutes and Chris Duignan scoring another on 20 minutes converted by Shane Purcell. Castlebar’s only score came with a try and conversion before half time. Creggs now lead 19 -7. Creggs started the scoring quickly with a second try from Chris Duignan on 48 minutes, Brian Cleary scored another on 68 minutes converted by Shane Purcell. On 74 minutes Kieran Purcell got his first senior try after following a kick pass from his brother Shane. The final score came from a Mark Dowd try on 80 minutes leaving the final score 41 -7. Subs used on the night were Lee Kilcoyne, Tom Farrell, John Martin, Aodhan Kelly and Mark Brandon.
