Connacht Girls Under-16 Plate Semi-Final

64

Creggs RFC 5, Corinthians RFC 39.

Creggs RFC Under-16 Girls lost to Corinthians RFC in the Semi Final of the Connacht Under-16 Girls Plate last Saturday morning in Creggs. This very young Creggs girls team which consisted of a lot of our Under-14 panel and all but 3 who are eligible again next year. Against a very strong Corinthian’s team, the Creggs girls put in a very brave tackling performance.

The difference between the teams was evident in that while the Creggs girls did very well to get into their opponents 22” on three occasions in the opening half, the Corinthians very strong defence held firm to hold out our girls out, while at the other end of the pitch Corinthians made 3 advances into the Creggs 22″ and came away with 3 scores helped by the greater physical strength.

For most of the Creggs girls, it was their first year playing rugby and it was the Under-16’s first time to contest a provincial competition and we look forward to them coming back again next year.
