Creggs 36 Monivea 12

Creggs enjoyed a comprehensive win over Monivea on Sunday morning last in the Green. Creggs scoring six tries in the process. The game began well for the home team with the forwards dominating and Ronan Cahill, Michael Kelly and Dan Butt making the hard yards and supplying quick ruck ball for the backs. A penalty for Creggs was taken quickly by an alert Matthew Brandon who passed to Conor Gore who had taken a very good running line to score near the posts. Shane Dowd converted and Creggs were soon back on the Monivea line when good lineout possession from Edward Clinton led to the ball being moved across the backline for Kevin Gavin to score at the corner flag. A third try came a few minutes later when after good work by Simon Spain and Brian Coady, Shane Dowd crossed for a well taken try. Monivea got back into the game for the remainder of the first half but could not penetrate the Creggs defensive line with good tackling from Kevin Gavin, Conor Gore, Michael Feeley and John Brennan keeping them out. The second half saw Creggs continue to dominate and they stretched their lead when quick ruck ball saw scrumhalf Michael Farrell transfer to Shane Dowd who skipped the ball to Michael Feeley who then moved it wide to John Brennan for an excellent try at the corner flag. Monivea replied late on with two excellent tries themselves as they refused to give up. Creggs continued to attack and Kevin Gavin got his second try followed by Michael Feeley who touched down late on after good work by Donal Forrest and Conor McNeill leaving the final score Creggs 36 Monivea 12.
