Creggs U.15 Boys

Both Creggs RFC Boys under 15 sides played over the weekend. First up on Saturday morning on the green was the Creggs Maroon team who play in the Connacht Division 2 league versus Ballinrobe Rugby Club. This game was even for most of the first half with both side scoring great tries. Creggs led by just one score at half time. The break seemed to settle the Creggs pack who played better as a unit in the second half with Creggs coming out winners in the end scoring 7 tries in total. James Trundle had a man of the match performance scoring 3 tries himself. Best try of the game came from a Creggs break being stopped just five meters out but Dillon Fallon came to the rescue by following the play closely and after receiving an awkward pass broke through two tacklers to score the last try of the game. Final score was 46 – 26.
On Sunday the Boys U.15 White team played their Connacht Division 1 game versus Ballina Rugby Union Club. This was played on our 4G pitch and was played in sunshine. Ballina also brought their U.16s girls team, to play Creggs girls and both matches were run off side by side and spectators drifted from one game to the other cheering on all teams. This boys game was a close encounter with two well balanced teams. Creggs led 12 -5 at half time. Ballina started quickly in the second half scoring a try within minutes. Score was now 12- 10. The referee was strict and gave Ballina two yellow cards for high tackles. Caelum Curran converted both penalties with Creggs now 18-5 ahead. Ballina were not finished scoring and came back in attack scoring another try bringing the score to 18-15. Ballina were very unlucky not to score after their center made two great breaks from his own half only to be stopped inside the Creggs 22. The final score of the game came when a break by the forwards was kicked ahead and gathered by Dan Kelly and go over for the final try. Creggs won 23 – 15. Training continues this week. Matches are arranged for next weekend. Details at training.
Our Boys U.14s played Carrick on Shannon RFC on Saturday morning on the 4G. In a tight match Creggs finished up winners with a score line 26-22.
