Creggs U15s

Creggs U15’s lost their opening league game of the season to a much fancied Corinthians team in Creggs last Sunday morning. Creggs can consider themselves unlucky in this encounter as a try just before half time and another near the end of the game flattered Corinthians.

Creggs began the game well and took the lead through a Shane Purcell penalty after 10 minutes. The game was very even until just before half time when Corinthians took a ball against the head at the scrum and the Creggs defence could not reorganise in time to stop the try and convert and found themselves 7-3 down at half time.

Corinthians extended their lead 10 minutes into the second half when they ran a try into the corner. Creggs now took control of territory and were awarded with a Shane Purcell penalty reducing the lead to 12-6. Creggs continued to attack and when Melvin Conteh picked the ball from the back of the ruck 25 metres out and broke the first tackle he raced clear to touch down leaving the score 12-11 to Corinthians.

Creggs continued to try and move the ball from deep and when they were turned over just outside their 22″ Corinthians scored a converted try to leave the final score Corinthians 19 Creggs 11.

There were some excellent performances on the day, upfront David O Gorman, Melvin Conteh, Brian Maloney and Danny Arnold fronted up to their opponents and out back Eoghan Coyle, Shane Purcell, Dylan Crehan and Niall Cunniffe were busy in both attack and Defence.

Creggs: Aaron Glennon, Brandon Hanmore, Melvin Conteh, Brian Maloney, Adam Finnerty, Dylan Crehan, David O Gorman, Danny Arnold, Eoghan Coyle, Shane Purcell, Jason Hoare, Reece Gilligan, Padraic Gaffey, Michael Conway, Niall Cunniffe, Thomas Hester, Kilian Higgins, Tim Lambe.
