Creggs RFC 31, Galwegians RFC 19.
The Creggs under 14 boys team played Galwegians last Sunday in their fifth round Connacht League game.
An early try from Luke Shaky and converted by Kaylum Curran settled the Creggs boys. However, the home team got into to the groove fairly sharpish then and controlled the next fifteen minutes of play and we’re rewarded with two tries.
The Creggs lads dug deep before half time to get back another try scored by Cian Trimble and this levelled the score at 14 all.
A strong Galwegian’s ball carrier troubled the Creggs defence and he ran in for another try before halftime to bring the score to Galwegians 19, Creggs 14.
In second half the Creggs lads found themselves having to deal with the elements, facing a strong win and the sun was in their eyes. However, in a good passage of play Kaylum Curran did well to get in for a try which was converted.
Further Creggs pressure was also finally rewarded when Jack Finn got over in the corner to push out their lead to 26 – 19. The Creggs lads continued to hold sway in the forwards and a timely pass out the backs saw Kaylum Curran get over for his second try. This sealed a hard fought 31-19 win. The Creggs boys showed very good determination to get this result.
The Under-14’s have two weeks to their last pool game in the Connacht League. A win in their final game v Sligo RFC, which is scheduled to be a home game, would leave them in contention for a place in the League Final.
