Creggs girls U16’s travelled to Tuam to play the combined teams of Galwegians (senior club) / Tuam / Oughterard teams last Saturday and came up just short losing by 26 points to 20.

Both teams scored 4 tries in a very exciting game. The home team started better and took a 12 points to nil lead before Creggs got on the scoreboard from two Sarah Purcell tries to be 12-10 down at half time.

The Creggs girls had the better of the possession and territory in the second half and got further tries by Roisin Maher and Sarah Purcell to lead 20-12 but were caught by two sucker punch breakaway tries in quick succession by the home side who took a 26-20 lead with 5 minutes remaining.

Creggs continued to attack and were awarded a number of 5 metre penalties with Jemima Adams Verling and Gabrielle Kilcommons getting very close to scoring at the very end before the final whistle.

Hard luck to our U18's who travelled to Corinthians RFC today and came up just short losing 19-15. With injuries and lads unavailable we travelled with a very small squad but the boys showed great pride and commitment coming back from 19~3 down at half time to narrowly lose. A super bunch of players who have a very promising season ahead. ... See MoreSee Less
