Connacht Under-16 Girls League Semi-Final

Claremorris RFC 24, Creggs RFC 7.

Creggs girls lost the semi final of the girls Under-16 League on Saturday morning away in Claremorris. The scoreline looks very comprehensive but the truth was with 6 minutes to go this game was right in the mix with the home team winning 10-7.

The Creggs girls started the game poorly and gave away two early tries, however as the first half progressed they began to put some phases together with Nadine Fitzmaurice, Roisin Maher, Rachel McDonald and Jemima Adams Verling carying well up front while Gabrielle Kilcommons, Sarah Purcell and Megan Donohue were doing well out the backs.

Creggs were by far the better team in the second half and were held up short a few times before Sarah Purcell got in for a try that Siofra Hession converted.

Creggs continued to attack and Roisin O’Brien, Mikayla Gillooly, Jean O’Boyle and Jennifer Morris did well with ball in hand but the Claremorris defence held firm before getting two breakaway tries in the last 6 minutes as Creggs searched for the score to win the game.

Creggs Rugby: Jean O’Boyle, Nadine Fitzmaurice, Roisin Maher, Caoimhe Walsh, Eadaoin Walsh, Jemima Adams Verling, Rachel McDonald, Roisin O Brien, Siofra Hession, Aoibhin Murray, Aobha Dowd, Sarah Purcell, Gabrielle Kilcommons, Jennifer Morris, Emma Mannion, Megan Donoghue, Julie Ann Fahy, Mikayla Gillooly, Grace Scanlon, Emily Murray, Stacey Corbally, Ellie Moran.
