Creggs Under-18’s put up a big score in League win

Connacht Under-18.5 League

Creggs Rugby 53, Monivea RFC 12.

Creggs Under-18’s put up an impressive score against an under-strength Monivea RFC side last Sunday in their Connacht Under-18.5 League match. In the process, they maintain an excellent six win from six outings.
However, it was a slow start with Monivea touching down first. The Galway lads were 5-0, before the Creggs lads got going.

In all, Creggs score 9 tries with a brace each for Kaylem Holian and Aodha Hession, and amongst others, Ryan O’Keeffe continue his try a game scoring form.

There was notable very strong defensive displays from Jack Hanley and John McDonnell in particular, and Thomas O’Brien had many outstanding carries.

Good news too – Ethan Glennon, who came off injured will be fit to return to the squad in a week or so, as will two or three other rested players. Their next game is away v Oughterard RFC ont Sunday. Earlier this season, the corresponding fixture was a tight affair with Creggs winning by just one score, 19-14 in Creggs.

Creggs Rugby: Tom Farrell, Eric O’Doherty, Aodha Hession, Mark Purcell, Lorcan Maher, Ethan Glennon, Ciaran Corcoran, Martin Quinn, Thomas O’Brien, Jack Hanley, Micheal Beirne, John McDonnell, Ryan O’Keeffe, Kaylem Holian, Conor Murphy, Cian Glennon, Sean Trundle, and Arron Hannon.

All 3 teams in action this weekend.
First up was U18s who played A training game Friday with Corrib. A very worthwhile exercise and many thanks to our hosts for making it such an enjoyable evening.
Saturday evening brought Creggs Rfc to Tuam where firstly u14s locked horns. Trys from Ailbhe Gannon,Juno Hayes,Doireann Clancy and Ceoladh Lydon were the topping on a fine team performance for this continually improving group. Strong performances too from Kyri Ruane,Louise Seoige,Sarah Smith and Heidi Watson.
Next up was the U16s. This was a cracker of a game where despite the best efforts of captain Hannah Clarke to drag her side into the game Creggs proved too strong on the day. Experienced players Beibhinn Gleeson,Keanah Irons and Charlotte O Grady continually offered themselves in both attack and defence but the powerful relentless ball carrying Creggs girls were deserving victors.

A great evenings Rugby tonight when Creggs Girls U14 and U16 travelled to play Tuam/Oughterard in Tuam in their first games of the season.

The U14's who had a lot of players playing their first ever game went down to a strong Tuam/Oughterard team but put in a great performance and then the U16"s Girls came out on top in a tough encounter against the same opposition.

Thanks to all that were available to travel tonight.
