Peter Bracken visits in his VW ID.4

On Thursday last ex International, Barbarians and Heineken Cup winner Peter Bracken called to the Creggs RFC grounds on his country wide tour. Peter is driving an electric VW ID4 to each of the 240 rugby clubs in the country to highlight the advantage of electric vehicles and promoting green energy. He was met by our treasurer, Kieran Dowd, who briefed him on the current development. Discussion was had about options of using LED floodlighting and solar panels and electric car charging points within the club. The availability of grants to change to green energy sources came up. Our sports clubs offer the community a future for our next generations and it is hoped that the government would take a favourable look at sports ground “green” grants, to replace or purchase greener energy sources in new builds.
