Creggs Development secures away bonus point

OLBC 18, Creggs Development 14,

Creggs Development team travelled to Galway Sportsground for Sunday’s J1C league game against Our Lady’s Boys Club, which ended up in a hard fought victory for the home team against an understrength but highly committed Creggs side.

Creggs led 6-3 after 25 minutes thanks to two well struck penalties by Brian Cleary, before OLBC responded with a try from a 5 metre scrum and a penalty to lead by 11 6 at halftime. OLBC crossed for another try shortly afterwards which was converted to further extend their lead to 18-6.

However, a fine try by the impressive Michael Feeley gave Creggs renewed hope and Brian Cleary’s conversion reduced the deficit to 5 points with fifteen minutes remaining.

OLBC were awarded a vital penalty from the restart and the kick sailed between the posts to leave Creggs requiring two scores for victory.

Despite piling on the pressure in the closing stages,Creggs could not break through the well organised Boys Club defence. Creggs had to settle for another Cleary penalty in the last minute of a game which secured a well-earned bonus point. This game featured many excellent displays by the Creggs players. Well done to all.
