U16 League

Corinthians RFC 10 Creggs RFC 10

Creggs U16’s produced a great performance on Saturday morning sharing the spoils with a very strong Corinthians RFC in Division 1 of the U16 League. Scores were hard to come by in this game which was contested by two very competitive and determined teams.

Creggs leaked a very early try and it looked like it could be a hard day for the Lads but after 10 minutes Creggs started to get to grips with the physical Galway outfit and started to have a bit of possession and territory and after some great work from Jack Keegan, Tom Farrell and Thomas O Brien up front, Creggs moved the wall well through Leigh Doyle and Aodha Hession to Aaron Hannon on the wing who dived over to level the scores. Corinthians picked things up again after the kick off and retook the lead after 15 minutes and the score stayed at 10-5 until half time.

The second half Creggs had the much better of the territory and John McDonnell, Jack Hanley and Jack Tucker up front were driving at their opponents but the home team defence held tight until the last play when a long kick up field by Corinthians was gathered by Mark Purcell and after 7/8 phases of play Creggs found themselves in the opponents 22″ and Tom Farrell dived over in the very corner to level the scores with Purcell only inches wide with the conversion.

Training continues for the U16’s Thursday night at 7pm.
